Aspergillus flavus Disseminated Infection in Paediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia: A Case Report

چکیده
Here we report the case of a disseminated Aspergillus flavus infection in an adolescent affected by acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the beginning of first-line chemotherapy. Association of surgery and combination antifungal therapy (high dose liposomal amphotericin B and caspofungin) allowed infection improvement. 18-FDG PET-MRI was used for response-to therapy monitoring.

Pneumothorax and Acute Kidney Injury in the Early Phase of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Induction Therapy due to Aspergillus Fumigatus and Pneumocystis Jirovecii Co-Infection: A Case Report
Leukemia is the most common malignancy in children which leads to immunosuppression and predisposes patients to opportunistic infections. We report a 12-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who developed simultaneous infection with pneumocystis Jirovecii pneumonia and aspergillosis in the induction phase of chemotherapy. The patient developed pulmonary cavitation and pneumothor...
متن کاملPediatric B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia presenting with Paraneoplastic Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis
Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a monophasic demyelinating disease most often triggered by infection or immunization, though associations with malignancy and stem cell transplant have been described. We described the case of a four-year-old boy with new-onset neurological symptoms associated with ADEM, acute leukemia, and equivocal evidence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. He ...
متن کاملDisseminated Fusarium infection in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia: A case report and review of the literature
Fusarium is a common soil mold. In severely immunocompromised patients, this fungus may cause disseminated disease and is often confused with Aspergillus, as the two pathogens have similar histopathological appearances. Disseminated Fusarium infection may cause significant morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. The current case report presents a 20-year-old male with acute lymph...
متن کاملEndocarditis and aortal embolization caused by Aspergillus terreus in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in remission: diagnosis by peripheral-blood culture.
Disseminated infection with Aspergillus terreus is a rare disease that affects only the immunocompromised host. We report a case of systemic infection with A. terreus resulting in endocarditis, aortic embolization, and splenic infarction in a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Diagnosis through peripheral blood culture, lack of pulmonary involvement, and onset of disease during complete...

Studies on associations of various polymorphisms in xenobiotic metabolizing genes with different cancers including acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) are mixed and inconclusive. The current study analyzed the relationship between polymorphisms of phase I xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes, cytochromes P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) and CYP2D6 and childhood ALL in Kashmir, India. We recruited 200 confirmed ALL...
